On the snowy trails of Grosse Ile, Michigan, Jack, Kala, and Charlie stepped into the landscape together as Denise’s devoted pack, each carrying a personality entirely their own. Denise came to me after a frightening encounter with a wild animal involving her dogs, wanting something lasting, artwork that would forever honor their lives and the bond she shares with them. During this Instinct & Atmosphere session, their individuality naturally revealed itself in the winter landscape: Jack bursting forward with endless energy and a love for adventure, Kala standing attentive with the instincts of a watchful tracker, nose ready to catch a trail, and Charlie, the senior of the pack, content in the calm moments, simply soaking in the peaceful rhythm of the world around him. This session became a way to preserve not just how they look, but the spirit and story of Denise’s beloved pack.
